what we’re wearing

Peak summer asks for texture that doesn't wilt by noon — chambray with a little drape, satin with movement, denim with detail. Pieces built to hold up through a long lunch outside.

what we’re reading

the intentions of thunder by patricia smith

Patricia Smith writes like she's still performing it aloud — even on the page, the poems carry the rhythm of a room that's leaning in. The Intentions of Thunder gathers new and selected work spanning her career, moving through grief, history, and the particular weather of being alive in this country right now. It won the National Book Award for Poetry, the NAACP Image Award, and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Poetry. The collection doesn't resolve so much as it accumulates, each poem building charge until the quiet ones land like the loudest thing in the room.
